Hanley Road Lead Pastor

Church Directional Leadership

  • Create consistent pastoral care for congregation
  • Develop a Congregational Care Plan together with staff and elders
  • Strategically plan for the overall development of The Journey-Hanley Road to become a culture of growing disciples making disciples
  • Oversee Hanley Road church operations including facilities, finances, and human resources
  • Direct planning for corporate worship that spiritually forms and missionally engages multi-ethnic congregation
  • Oversee and attend “all Hanley Road Church” Newcomer lunches/dinners
  • Preach during assigned weekend services (12-18 times per year)
  • Provide occasional teaching outside of weekend services
  • Lead new Member process/classes for The Journey-Hanley Road

Strategic Planning

  • Provide proactive leadership and problem solving to staff, elders, and key leaders
  • Collaborate with Ministry Support teams to ensure that the logistical needs of the local church are met (Facilities, Finance, Human Resources, Production, Creative + Communications)
  • Develop annual ministry plan for The Journey-Hanley Road that sets clear, concise, and measurable objectives for church location and staff
  • Assist local church staff in developing their annual ministry plans
  • Regularly engage leadership stakeholders in strategic thinking
  • Facilitate Elder/Service Pastor process at The Journey-Hanley Road
  • Participate in Lead Pastor community and weekly meetings with Lead Pastor of The Journey
  • Lead/participate in “All Staff” meetings
  • Contribute to Journey Global initiatives as needed

Church Staff Shepherding and Leadership Development

  • Lead individual monthly meetings with each church staff member at The Journey-Hanley Road
  • Oversee staff development and performance objectives for each local staff member, providing coaching and performance feedback as needed
  • Set clear objectives and job descriptions when necessary for each staff and key lay leaders
  • Plan and lead regular local church staff meetings

Church Elder/Service Pastor Leadership

  • Lead monthly individual and group meetings with each church elder at The Journey-Hanley Road
  • Create roles and responsibilities/ministry assignments for each elder
  • Model behavior that affirms vision and core values
  • Plan and lead local Membership meetings each trimester

Church Expansion

  • Develop and grow missional communities at The Journey-Hanley Road
  • Evangelistically strategize how to expand, reach, and serve more people in the local community
  • Extend the reach of the local church through strategic local partnerships

    Status: Full-time, exempt
    Schedule/Hours: 50-55 hours/week

    Reports to: Lead Pastor of The Journey
    Supervises: Local Church Staff
