Pastor of Spiritual Formation - Hanley Road

Basic Job Description
The Pastor of Spiritual Formation will be responsible to co-develop and co-execute the vision, mission, core values, and strategic roadmap for Family Ministries (i.e. Journey Kids and Journey Students), Community Groups, and Pathway to Membership. They will strengthen the existing leadership teams by providing additional direction, development, and support to the volunteer leaders within these ministries. In this way, the Pastor of Spiritual Formation will “equip the saints for the work of ministry”. This person will work closely with the Lead Pastor, the lay Elders, and the Church Staff. Some day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Co-Direct the Community Group Executive Leadership Team
  • Lead a Community Group
  • Recruit, train, and deploy new Community Group Leaders
  • Coach several Community Groups
  • Co-Direct the Journey Kids Executive Leadership Team
  • Discover and/or Develop Curriculum for Journey Kids & Journey Students
  • Recruit, train, and deploy new volunteer teachers for Journey Kids & Journey Students
  • Recruit, train, and deploy new classroom volunteers for Journey Kids & Journey Students
  • Co-Direct the Membership Executive Leadership Team
  • Teach Membership Classes as needed
  • Initiate and perpetuate collaboration with peers/staff from other Journey locations in order to share resources in the areas of Journey Kids, Community Groups, and Membership
  • Plan and execute Spiritual Formation classes
  • Supervise and administer church discipline cases as needed
  • Counsel and shepherd individuals and families as needed
  • Assist the Lead Pastor with the implementation of Journey-wide initiatives as needed
  • Occasional Teaching, Preaching, and/or Service Pastoring as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor

    Status: Full-Time, Exempt
    Hours: 45-50 hours/week
    Schedule: Tuesday through Friday, 8a-5p. Sunday, 8a-1p. Note: Executive Leadership Team meetings will likely require regular early morning or late night meetings in order to accommodate volunteers’ schedules
