More About this Series

The word “gospel” comes from the Greek word euangelion, which literally means “good news.” Throughout the Roman empire, ‘gospel’ was used to refer to the birth, announcement, accession, or victory of a great emperor. Messengers wouldn’t return from battle with philosophy, psychology, or poetry. They would return with an announcement — something historic has happened and it radically changes the listener’s condition.

This is what separates Christianity from religion. It is a declaration of what God has already done for us, rather than advice about what we are to do for God.

Throughout this series, we’ll explore how to deepen our understanding of the victory Jesus has won on our behalf, and how to share this good news with our families, friends, co-workers, and neighbors.
