    Ecclesiastes 11:9 - 12:14

"Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, 'I have no pleasure in them'"(Ecclesiastes 12:1 ESV). John Wesley defines "evil" in this context as "the time of old age, [which is] burdensome in itself, and far more grievous when it is loaded with the sad remembrance of youthful follies, and with the dreadful prospect of approaching death and judgment." The warning in the text is clear: Our bodies eventually fail and decay, while life's pleasures grow dim and unable to satisfy. Such wisdom should encourage us to sow seed for righteousness now.
