Why are you at The Journey?
That is a long story so I will try to give a brief summary. Melissa and I were living in Chicago after we got married, had good jobs and were invested in a great church up there. But God began to move on my wife's heart (who is from Minnesota) to want to move to St Louis and become part of The Journey. I am from St Louis, but had come across The Journey's pod casts while we were in Chicago. We came down for a visit and Melissa's sense just got stronger. I resisted for some time, but after a season of prayer and fasting, several words/leadings from God along the way (a few significant ones came from Pastor Darrin's sermon series "The Search for Jesus in the Old Testament") and finally a place of letting go of the resistance we decided to move. We became members, joined a community group and were all on board within a month or 2 of moving. We continued to invest into the people through leading in several capacities such as gospel class, journey kids, and community group... About a year after serving and developing a relationship with some of our elders/leaders, the need arose for someone to come on staff as a full time financial director. I was asked if I wanted to resign my job in the CPA firm I had been working and come on staff to take this position. At first I said no, but again went into a season of prayer and came out with a deep sense of calling... I never had aspirations/plans of being a vocational ministry person, but opportunity and ability to use my gifts and passions to serve our local body has been more rewarding than I expected. Why am I working at The Journey? Jesus...
What do you love about St. Louis?
I am a lifelong St Louis Blues and Cardinals fan... I love that when our teams are competitive, that it creates a buzz of excitement for our whole city.
